The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a man they say robbed a convenience store near West Columbia.

According to sheriff’s deputies, officers are searching for a suspect who robbed the Pitt Stop at 125 Rolling Meadow Lane at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27.

On Tuesday, detectives released two surveillance camera photographs of the man as well as one surveillance camera photograph of the car that the man drove away in.

Witnesses told deputies that the man, who was African-American, was between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-4 and weighed between 250 pounds and 300 pounds, the report stated.

Deputies say the man appeared to be between the ages of 20 and 30 and was wearing gloves on his hands that often are worn by mechanics. The gloves were black, with a pattern on top of the gloves.

Witnesses also told deputies that the man drove away in a red car, possibly a Dodge Neon sedan, deputies say.
