The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department arrested two West Columbia men they say broke into or attempted to break into five motor vehicles.

Deputies arrested 22-year-old Samuel Xavier Guinyard and 20-year-old Robert Lee Jeridore on charges that the two men broke into or attempted to break into five motor vehicles that were parked at four homes on Flinchum Place near West Columbia.

Arrest warrants allege around 3:30 a.m. on October 5 Guinyard and Jeridore tried to break into four vehicles and broke into one vehicle.

A witness contacted the Sheriff’s Department and reported that two men were going to numerous motor vehicles parked at homes on Flinchum Place, lifting the door handles on the vehicles in order to determine whether they could enter the vehicles, the report stated.

The report said deputies arrived in the neighborhood and detained Jeridore as he tried to run away from officers.

Deputies detained Guinyard after conducting a traffic stop in the neighborhood.

The report said Guinyard was a passenger in a blue 1997 Toyota Camry.

Officers say they observed several pairs of sunglasses as well as a car charger and ear buds for an iPod in the car’s back seat.

In addition, deputies found several CDs and a large number of coins on Guinyard, the report stated.

Guinyard and Jeridore each were being held on Thursday, October 11 at the Lexington County Detention Center on bail totaling $12,500.
