Lexington County School District One received several awards from the South Carolina chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (SC/NSPRA).
The Communications Office won a video award for “Students get on board for a good book” about a Gilbert Attendance Area bus driver and a publication award for the Teacher of the Year Celebration Program.
During the month of July, 194 Lexington One students will participate in the 2013 Tri-District Arts Consortium (TRI-DAC) Summer Program.
TRI-DAC is an intense and exciting three-week program for artistically gifted and talented middle school students who are rising sixth- through ninth-graders and attend public schools in Lexington One, Richland County School District Two or School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties.
White Knoll High students Chase Goodwin and Savannah Terrapin light the torch at the 2013 Area 7 Special Olympics.
WKHS hosted the annual event at the school’s football and track stadium. More than 500 Special Olympic athletes attended the celebration and competed in various track and field events. The event gives students with disabilities the opportunity to compete in athletic events, to build sponsorship and to promote respect and equality.
The White Knoll High Archery Team placed second in state at the 2013 South Carolina Archery in the Schools State Championship Tournament.
After placing second in state at the tournament in March, the team traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to participate in the national tournament on May 11, 2013.
