Nearly 200 Lexington One students to participate in TRI-DAC

During the month of July, 194 Lexington One students will participate in the 2013 Tri-District Arts Consortium (TRI-DAC) Summer Program.

 

TRI-DAC is an intense and exciting three-week program for artistically gifted and talented middle school students who are rising sixth- through ninth-graders and attend public schools in Lexington One, Richland County School District Two or School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties.

Get ready for South Carolina’s Largest Baby Shower! On Saturday, May 11th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. drop off baby supplies to select Walmart locations in Columbia, Sumter and Florence. The supplies will then be donated directly to the Pregnancy Resource Center in your area to help expecting mothers in need.

McDonald's to give free breakfast to students before PASS test

The 47 McDonald’s restaurants in the greater Columbia metropolitan area will serve students taking the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) Test with a free breakfast on May 7, 2013.  

The free breakfast will include an Egg McMuffin and Apple Slices, with a choice of one percent low fat white Milk or a small Orange Juice.  

To redeem the free breakfast, students must present the attached coupon.

The coupon is good from 6 to 7 a.m. in store only.

Leaphart to host Family Math Night

On May 16, from 5-7 p.m. Leaphart will conduct Family Math Night with students, family members and LES staff at the Bi-Lo at 6021 St. Andrews.

This is a night of excitement for all. Some of the math activities will include students having to weight certain fruits and vegetables to determine how many of them it takes to reach the desired amount indicated on the math sheet. Students will have to use their math skills to determine if it is budget smarter to purchase one large canned item or two small canned items for the price and quantity needed.

Grab Your Bicycle For "Children Pedals Abuse" On September 28th

 

Grab your bicycle and get ready for the first ever Dickerson Center for "Children Pedals Abuse" on Saturday, September 28th. The ride will start at 8:00 a.m. in West Columbia at the Congaree State Bank.

There will be three different rides. There will be a 62 mile ride, a 20 mile rid and then a child friendly 1 mile ride. In addition to the bike rides there will be a fun family event with great food, face painting and other fun activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense In America To Hold Rally At The Statehouse

Only eleven weeks after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America has decided to hold a rally at the SC Statehouse in Columbia on March 2nd at 10:30 a.m.

The peaceful rally will allow parents and other supporters across the state to reach out to SC legislators about demanding more gun regulation in order to prevent gun violence.
