Lexington County Solid Waste Management To Host E-Waste Event

 

 

Lexington County Solid Waste Management will be hosting a one day electronics waste recycling event on May 25, 2013, from 10 am until 2 pm.  The recycling event will be held at the Ball Park Road Collection & Recycling Center, 301 Ball Park Road, in Lexington. 

 

The electronics waste recycling event is open to Lexington County Residents only.  Proof of residency will be required.  The electronics waste must have been generated from residence within Lexington County.

2013 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Collection Dates & Locations Set

The dates and locations are set for the 2013 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Program.  Based on surveys, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) has established seven locations across the state making it easy for South Carolina farmers, foresters, nurserymen, golf course operators, and custom applicators to safely dispose of old, outdated, unusable, or unwanted pesticides. The goal of the program is to increase proper management and disposal of unwanted pesticides

County now offering new, improved options for phone book recycling

 

Lexington County residents can now recycle unwanted phone books year round at the curb or at all 11 Lexington County Collection and Recycling Centers. At the Centers, phone books can be placed in the same recycling container as newspapers and magazines. The locations of the Centers are as follows:

·         Ball Bark Road – 301 Ballpark Rd, Lexington

·         Bush River Road – 6109 Bush River Rd, Columbia

The City of Columbia will be giving a tour of its Columbia Canal Drinking Water Plant and Metro Wastewater Treatment Plant on Friday, March 22 from 1:30 to 5:00 PM. Guests will see how the City's drinking water is made from one of its sources on the Broad River and where it ultimately goes into the Congaree River after being treated at the wastewater treatment plant.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The director of South Carolina's environmental agency is scheduled to speak at a meeting focusing on water quality. Department of Health and Environmental Control director Catherine Templeton is slated to speak Thursday at the quarterly meeting of the S.C. Water Quality Association in Columbia. 

The meeting will be held at Seawell's, located at 1125 Rosewood Drive in Columbia at 11 a.m.
