Report: Lawnmower stolen from church after prayer service

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of a riding lawnmower from a church.

According to an incident report, officers responded to West Columbia Seventh Day Adventist Church located on Delree Street in reference to a larceny.

Upon arrival, deputies met with a church member who stated that when he came in Thursday morning he found the storage shed open and the lawnmower gone, the report stated.

Deputies say the last time the storage building was secure was after Wednesday night prayer service.

The report said that an unknown suspect forced the latch to the building open to gain entry.

According to sheriff’s deputies, a 2011 red Craftsman riding lawnmower valued at $1500 was the only item taken.
