Man shot dead, woman wounded while sitting in parked car | Crime
Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives are investigating an incident in which a 33-year-old West Columbia man was shot and killed and a 24-year-old Cheraw woman was shot and wounded.
According to Sheriff James R. Metts, detectives are working to identify the person or persons who shot the man and woman with a handgun at about 2:12 a.m. on Monday, July 16 while the man and woman were sitting in a car that was parked at an apartment complex on Riverbend Drive near West Columbia.
Detectives say the circumstances of the fatal shooting and the motive remain under investigation.
According to deputies, officers responded to a call about the fatal shooting and found the body of 33-year-old Terance Terell Jackson of West Columbia, in the front seat of a red, two-door Buick sedan that was parked at the Riverbend Drive apartment complex.
Detectives say Jackson had been shot multiple times in his upper torso.
Deputies later found the 24-year-old Cheraw woman, who was shot and wounded, at an apartment in the Riverbend Drive apartment complex, where the woman sought help after she was shot, the report stated. The woman suffered a gunshot wound to her lower torso.
Metts says he will not release the woman’s name because she witnessed the fatal shooting, and the release of information that could identify the woman could jeopardize the woman’s personal safety.
The 24-year-old Cheraw woman was undergoing medical treatment on Monday afternoon in the intensive care unit at a hospital, according to Metts.
Detectives say the woman met Jackson about one week ago at their workplace and had gone to a bar with Jackson prior to the shooting incident.
