Police looking for suspect who “jumped” 74-year-old man | Crime
The West Columbia Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a suspect in a strong armed robbery case.
A warrant has been issued for 48-year-old Eddie Leroy Cokley of Cayce, according to police.
Chief Dennis Tyndall said that the incident took place at Ozzie’s Country Island bar located at 1420 Charleston Highway in West Columbia on November 25.
According to the 74-year-old victim, he was leaving the bar around 11:30 p.m.
As he headed to his car, he was “jumped” by the suspect and they both fell to the ground.
Police said the suspect stole the victim’s wallet and fled on foot.
The victim was not injured in the assault.
Investigators say they were able to recover a cell phone and a ring at the scene that they were able to link to Mr. Cokley.
According to Chief Tyndall, he has information that Cokley may be in the South Congaree area of Lexington County.
