Church hosts 43rd annual BBQ this weekend | Community Spirit
WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – This weekend you can fill your belly with BBQ while benefiting some good causes. The Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church is hosting their 43rd annual BBQ with several family friendly events on Saturday, October 5th.
The festivities kick off Friday evening at the Leaphart Road church located in West Columbia with a pumpkin patch and an outdoor movie. Starting at 5:00 Friday the kids can also enjoy inflatable houses and an outdoor family friendly movie at 7:30. The church will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs Friday night.
The BBQ is available to the public Saturday morning. Starting at 8:00 you can get a BBQ pork or chicken plate to carryout for $8.00. Beginning at 11:00 you can pay $8.00 and get the buffet. Both options are available to kids for $5.00. They will be sold until they sell out so get there early. Members of the church will also be selling side dishes including rice, hash, and coleslaw. All the BBQ is mustard based.
You can also purchase baked goods starting at 8:00.
Last year the church donated over $17,000 from the annual BBQ to mission projects including Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts, snack packs for needy children and scholarships.
The event was started as a fund raiser in efforts to raise money for the church building fund. The event has raised over $310,000 since it started.
Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church is located at 3050 Leaphart Road in West Columbia.
