Boot drive fundraiser in memory of a fallen hero | Community Spirit

The West Columbia Fire Department will join with the Lexington County Fire Department to hold a boot drive fundraiser in memory of Firefighter Jeffrey Chavis, a fallen hero.  Firefighters will collect donations at the Wal-Mart store located at 2400 Augusta Road in West Columbia between 5 and 9 p.m. on Friday, May 18 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Proceeds from the boot drive benefit the Jeffrey Chavis House at the Joseph M. Still Burn Unit in Augusta, Georgia.  The 45-bed guest house is named in honor of a Lexington County firefighter who died while on duty in 2001 and is supported by the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation.
